Terminal Expansion Project
We’re investing in a larger terminal to meet the needs of Tasmania.
Passenger growth into Tasmania continues to rise as people discover what the locals already know; Tassie is the best place on earth. As the major aviation gateway into Tasmania, we welcome 2.5 million passengers a year (2023) with numbers set to reach 3.5 million by 2030.
Hobart Airport has commenced its $200 million terminal upgrade to double the terminal footprint. This means more space, more food & beverage, and more retail options for the travelling public.
Works have begun on the terminal and it is planned that the expansion will be completed by early 2027. During this time our airport will continue to operate and we will work to minimise disruption during the course of the build.
As the privately-owned major aviation gateway into Tasmania, this upgraded is funded by Hobart International Airport Pty Ltd (HIAPL), owned by QIC, Royal Schiphol Group and Care Super.
