Ground transport and services upgrade

To make room for the terminal expansion, we’re also redeveloping areas of the airport precinct to complement the larger terminal footprint.

As the number of travellers increases, we are investing in improvements to the precinct road network, commercial, and car park facilities. This creates more choice and amenity however you prefer to get to and from the airport.

The airport precinct includes onsite parking close to the terminal, commercial facilities such as buses, taxis, rideshare, and car rental facilities. Hobart Airport also provides staff parking facilities for organisations operating on the airport precinct.

Summary of works:
  • Realignment of the commercial road to increase available capacity for seamless passenger services and allow for doubling of terminal footprint
  • Increased car parking by 160 bays
  • Relocation of Valet parking
  • New Parking Customer Service building including Valet services
  • Introduction of undercover Premium Car Parking product

Updates

Our undercover Premium Car Park offers convenience and security. You can rest easy knowing that your vehicle is protected from the weather and just a few minutes’ walk to the terminal.

Drivers will enter and exit the Short Term car park from Long Street. Roadway signs will direct traffic along Grueber Avenue. The entry and exit on Gatty Street will access a separate car park, currently in use by Valet customers.

A new entry and exit has opened on Gatty St providing access to the Short Term and Valet car park. The former Gatty St entrance has now permanently closed.

All commercial operators such as Skybus, taxi and Uber are now operating on the new commercial road, next to the public pick up and drop off lane. This newly constructed double lane offers more space and amenity for drop off and collection.

Valet services relocated to Short Term car park. New Parking Customer Service office opens.
